Shoply Shoply Privacy Policy

Cookie Policy

Last updated 8 October 2026

What Shoply keeps in your browser, on its own pages and on the stores it hosts, and what you can do about it.

1.What this page covers

Small pieces of information a site keeps in your browser. Some are cookies, which your browser sends back with each request. Others stay in your browser's own storage and are read only by the page. This page says "cookies" for both, since what matters to you is the same: what is kept, why, and for how long.

There are two kinds of place to tell apart, as in the Privacy Policy: Shoply's own pages, where you are a merchant or a visitor of ours, and a store hosted on Shoply, where you are that store's visitor.

2.On shoply.gg and the dashboard

Essential

These make signing in and staying safe work. They are always on.

  • Your session. A cookie set when you sign in to the dashboard, which keeps you signed in until you sign out or it runs out. The store builder has one of its own, for up to twelve hours.
  • A browser we have seen. A cookie that marks a browser you have signed in from, kept for up to 400 days, so that a sign-in from a new one can be reported to you by email.
  • Continue with Google. A short-lived cookie during that sign-in, which only checks that the trip out and back belongs to the same browser.
  • Protection against bots. Every page is served through Cloudflare, which may set cookies of its own to tell people from automated traffic.
  • Your answer to the cookie notice. Kept in your browser's storage, so you are not asked again.

Preferences

Light or dark, which store you had open, how the sidebar was left, an announcement you closed, how you like the code editor. These stay in your browser's storage and are never sent to us.

Analytics

None today. Shoply sets no analytics or advertising cookies on its own pages. If that changes, each one will be named here, and it will be set only in a browser that allowed analytics in the cookie notice.

3.On a store hosted on Shoply

A store's pages keep what the store needs to work for you. The notice a store shows is short for that reason: there is nothing optional of ours to ask about.

  • Your basket, and a checkout you have started, so that both are still there when you come back.
  • Your settings: language, currency, and light or dark.
  • A visitor token. A random value that lets the store count visits. It identifies a browser at that one store and nobody by name. The Privacy Policy says how it is used.
  • A referral code, for 30 days, if you arrived through an affiliate's link, so that the affiliate is credited when you buy.
  • Your customer session. A cookie set when you sign in to a store's customer panel with the code emailed to you. While that tab is open the panel also keeps a count of its own attempts to load your orders, which says nothing about you.
  • A store's password. A cookie that remembers you entered it, where a store is behind one.
  • Protection against bots, from Cloudflare, as on our own pages.
  • Your answer to the store's cookie notice, so that it is shown once.

A merchant can connect Google Tag Manager or Google Analytics to their store. Where they have, Google's cookies are set on that store as well. That is the merchant's choice and their own policy covers it.

4.At checkout

The checkout keeps your choice of light or dark. Paying by card loads the payment provider's own form, which sets that provider's cookies to prevent fraud, and PayPal opens on PayPal's own page. Those cookies belong to the provider and are covered by its policy.

5.Your choices

  • On shoply.gg you can allow everything, keep to the essential ones, or choose which. You can change your answer at any time.
  • Essential cookies cannot be switched off from a notice. Your browser can block or clear them, and signing in, baskets and saved settings will stop working where it does.
